GoMovies DMCA and Copyright Policy: How to Request a Removal

This page explains what the site does and does not host, how a rights holder can ask us to remove a listing or an embedded player, exactly what a valid notice must contain, how quickly we act, and how someone whose content was removed can respond.

What GoMovies Does and Does Not Host

Understanding this first will make your notice faster to act on. GoMovies does not store, upload or host any video files of movies or TV episodes on its own servers. The site is a catalogue: each title page carries a poster, a summary, a release year and other details drawn from public APIs such as TMDb, together with an embedded player served from a third-party source.

  • What we can remove: the title page on gomoviesn.com, the embedded player on it, and any poster, still or text on our pages.
  • What we cannot remove: the underlying video file on a third-party host. Removing our page or embed stops the title being reachable through GoMovies, but the file itself is the host's responsibility. Where we can identify the host we will tell you, so you can send them a notice too.
02

Our Commitment to Rights Holders

GoMovies was founded by someone who works in film production. We do not treat copyright notices as an inconvenience. Our commitments are:

  • Every notice is read by a person and acknowledged within 24 hours.
  • Valid notices are actioned promptly, normally within 48 hours of receipt and usually much faster.
  • We follow the notice-and-takedown process set out in Section 512 of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and we honour equivalent processes under the laws of other countries.
  • We keep a record of every notice and the action taken, and we apply a repeat-infringer policy to sources of content.
  • We never charge a fee to process a notice and never ask a rights holder to register or sign up.
03

Before You File a Notice

Three checks that save everyone time:

  • Confirm the page is on gomoviesn.com. Copies of GoMovies exist under other domains. We can only act on our own site; a notice about another domain has to go to that domain's owner or host.
  • Confirm you own or represent the rights. Notices must come from the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them (a studio's anti-piracy team, a law firm, a licensed agent). A fan of a film cannot file on the studio's behalf.
  • Collect the exact URLs. One URL per title page. "All your Marvel films" cannot be actioned; https://gomoviesn.com/movies/example-title/ can. You may list as many URLs as you need in one notice.

How to File a DMCA Takedown Notice

Email your notice to info.gomoviesn@gmail.com with the subject line DMCA notice: [page URL], or use the form in section 6, which builds the email for you with every required element in place. Plain text in the body of the email is fine; a PDF on letterhead is also fine. We do not need a notarised document.

If you are sending notices on behalf of a company, include the company name and your role. If you represent several rights holders, one notice per rights holder keeps our records clean and speeds things up.

05

What a Valid Notice Must Contain

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice must include the following six elements. A notice missing any of them cannot be actioned, and we will reply asking for the missing part.

  1. Identification of the Copyrighted Work

The title of the film or TV show (and season and episode where relevant) that you say has been infringed. If you are claiming for several works, a representative list is acceptable.

  2. Identification of the Infringing Material and Its Location

The exact URL of every page on gomoviesn.com you want removed. Copy it from the address bar. Without a URL we cannot find the page.

  3. Your Contact Information

Your full name, the company you represent (if any), a postal address, a telephone number and an email address we can reply to.

  4. A Good-Faith Statement

A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the way complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.

  5. An Accuracy Statement Under Penalty of Perjury

A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

  6. Your Signature

A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or the person authorised to act for them. Typing your full name at the end of the email counts as an electronic signature.

Takedown Notice Form

Complete every field, tick both statements, and press Send. Your email app opens with a correctly worded notice addressed to our copyright agent. Nothing you type is stored on this website.

Opens your email app addressed to info.gomoviesn@gmail.com. If nothing opens, copy the address and send the six elements listed above directly.
07

What Happens After We Receive a Notice

  1. Within 24 hours

    Acknowledged

You receive a reply confirming the notice arrived and a reference number. If anything required is missing, the reply says what.

  2. Within 48 hours

    Reviewed and actioned

A valid notice results in the listed page or embed being removed or disabled. You receive confirmation with the URLs actioned.

  3. At removal

    Source notified

Where the embed came from an identifiable source, that source is told a notice was received and given a copy so they may respond.

  4. Ongoing

    Recorded

The notice, the action taken and any counter-notice are logged. Sources that draw repeated valid notices are dealt with under section 9.

Removal on GoMovies means the title page and its player are taken down or disabled. It does not delete a video file held by a third-party host; where we can identify that host we will name it in our confirmation so you can pursue the file at source.

08

Counter-Notice: If Your Content Was Removed

If material you supplied or embedded on GoMovies was removed because of a notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), it must contain:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which GoMovies may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice

Send it to info.gomoviesn@gmail.com with the subject DMCA counter-notice: [URL]. We forward a valid counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, the material may be restored between 10 and 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

A counter-notice is a legal statement. Filing one when you know the material infringes exposes you to liability. If you are unsure, take legal advice before sending it.

09

Repeat Infringers

GoMovies keeps a record of every valid notice and the source of the material it concerned. A source that attracts repeated valid notices is removed from the site entirely, not just for the titles named, and is not reinstated. The same applies to any contributor whose submissions to our editorial section draw repeated valid notices. There is no fixed number that triggers this; two valid notices about the same source in a short period is enough for review.

10

False or Abusive Claims

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages including the costs and legal fees of the party harmed. We take this seriously in both directions. Notices that are plainly not from a rights holder, that target content the sender does not own, or that are used to harass, are rejected and logged. Repeated abusive notices from the same sender are ignored.
