Comedy Family Fantasy

Tess Coleman is a therapist about to remarry. Anna is her fifteen-year-old daughter, in a band, failing English and at war with her over all of it. At a Chinese restaurant the owner’s mother gives them two fortune cookies, and the next morning each wakes up in the other’s body. Freaky Friday is the second Disney version of the book, and it is the one everybody means.

What Happens On Friday

Tess, in Anna’s body, has to go to school, take an English test and sit through detention. Anna, in Tess’s body, has to see patients, appear on a TV show about her mother’s book, and deal with the fact that Ryan, the fiance played by Mark Harmon, wants to kiss her. Anna’s band, Pink Slip, has an audition the same night as the rehearsal dinner. Jake, the boy Anna likes, played by Chad Michael Murray, starts falling for Tess because Anna’s personality is in there. The swap can only reverse with a selfless act.

Why Jamie Lee Curtis Is The Reason

She was a last-minute replacement for Annette Bening, had four days to prepare, and plays a teenager in a 44-year-old body better than anyone has since. The guitar solo at the end is Lohan playing for real, taught during filming. The 2025 sequel, Freakier Friday, reunited both of them.
