Peter LaFleur owns Average Joe’s, a gym for people who do not go to gyms. White Goodman owns Globo Gym across the street, has a bank’s worth of money, and wants to buy Average Joe’s and turn it into a car park. Peter has thirty days to find 50,000 dollars. The dodgeball tournament in Las Vegas pays exactly that. Dodgeball was the second-biggest comedy of 2004 and Ben Stiller’s White Goodman is the dumbest villain he has played.
What Happens On The Way To Vegas
The team is Peter, Gordon who collects obscure sports, Justin who wants to be a cheerleader, Owen who cannot speak, Dwight, and Steve, who thinks he is a pirate. Patches O’Houlihan, a wheelchair-bound legend played by Rip Torn, coaches them by throwing wrenches. Kate, the lawyer, played by Christine Taylor, joins. The tournament is on ESPN 8, “The Ocho”, with Gary Cole and Jason Bateman commentating, and the final is against Globo Gym with Chuck Norris on the judging panel. Lance Armstrong talks Peter out of quitting.
Why It Is Still Quoted
“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” The five Ds. White Goodman inflating his trousers. Vince Vaughn is the straight man for once. Rawson Marshall Thurber wrote it as a spec script after seeing a dodgeball game. The sequel has been announced and cancelled several times.
