Peter Banning is a corporate lawyer who misses his son’s baseball game to take a call. On a trip to London to visit the old Wendy Darling, now 92, his two children are taken from their beds and a note is left pinned to the nursery door with a dagger. It is signed J. Hook. Hook is Spielberg’s answer to the question of what happened after Peter Pan, and Robin Williams plays a man who has to remember how to fly.
What Happens In Neverland
Tinker Bell, played by Julia Roberts, drags Peter to Neverland, where Hook, played by Dustin Hoffman under a wig and a hooked nose, gives him three days to get into shape for a proper war. The Lost Boys, now led by Rufio with the red mohawk, do not believe he is Pan. There is a food fight with imaginary food that becomes real, a baseball game run by pirates, and the moment Peter finds his happy thought. Bob Hoskins is Smee.
Why It Split Critics And Won Kids
At 142 minutes and 70 million dollars it was called bloated in 1991. For anyone who was under ten then it is the Neverland they picture. The pirate town set filled a whole soundstage, John Williams wrote one of his best scores, and “Bangarang” is still shouted at Williams tributes.
