The Duncans are flying to Palm Springs to spend Christmas with Amy’s parents. Teddy and Amy get bumped from the flight in Denver, and the rest of the film is the two of them trying to get to California by bus, by borrowed car, by truck and on foot, while the rest of the family deals with Grandma and Grandpa Blankenhooper. Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas! is the Disney Channel movie version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and it is the best thing the series produced.
What Happens On The Road
Teddy has a secret, which is that she has applied to Yale, and Amy has one too, which comes out at the end. The two of them get stranded at a truck stop, sing in a bus full of carollers, and are picked up by a couple whose car is held together with hope. Back in Palm Springs, Bob, PJ and Gabe try to survive the Blankenhoopers, and Charlie, who is about three here, does what Charlie does. Mia Talerico is the whole reason the show existed and she gets her moments.
Why It Is A Regular Christmas Rewatch
It aired in December 2011 between seasons two and three of the show, so it catches the cast at their best. Bridgit Mendler and Leigh-Allyn Baker have real mother-daughter chemistry, and the film’s running time of 80 minutes keeps it tight. The ending sets up the Yale storyline that runs through the final season.
