The Ark is a space station holding the last 2,400 humans, and it is running out of air. The council decides to send a hundred juvenile prisoners down to the surface, which has been radioactive for 97 years, to find out whether it will kill them. The 100 starts as a teen survival show and within two seasons becomes one of the most ruthless series on television, where the main characters do things that other shows would give to the villains.
What Happens Over Seven Seasons
The hundred land, discover the Earth is inhabited by Grounders who survived the war, and have to decide whether to fight them or join them. Clarke Griffin, played by Eliza Taylor, becomes the one who makes the decisions nobody else will, and Bellamy Blake, played by Bob Morley, becomes the one who keeps her human. Mount Weather, the City of Light, Praimfaya, the bunker and the move to a new planet each take a season. The series ran 100 episodes on The CW from 2014 to 2020, which was the plan from the start.
Why It Gained A Following
The show kills major characters without warning, and the central argument, whether survival justifies what you do to survive, never gets a comfortable answer. The Grounder language, Trigedasleng, was built by a linguist. The series was adapted from Kass Morgan’s novels but left them behind by episode four.
