Olive tells her best friend she spent the weekend with a college boy. She did not. The lie is overheard in a bathroom by the head of the school’s Christian group, and by Monday the whole of Ojai High thinks she is the school’s most experienced girl. Olive, who is reading The Scarlet Letter in English, decides to lean in. Easy A is the film that made Emma Stone a lead, and she is in every scene of it.
What Happens With The Red A
Boys start paying Olive in gift cards to say they slept with her, so they can stop being bullied. Her reputation grows, her actual life stays exactly the same, and the gap between the two is the whole film. Her parents, played by Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson, are the best movie parents of the decade. Thomas Haden Church is the English teacher whose wife, the guidance counsellor, has her own secret. Olive tells the story to a webcam, which is how the film is framed.
Why It Is The Best John Hughes Film John Hughes Never Made
Olive says she wants her life to be a John Hughes movie, and the last ten minutes give her one, with a lawnmower, a boombox and a kiss. Amanda Bynes’ Marianne was her last film role. The pocketful of sunshine montage is the scene everyone remembers.
