Drama Romance

Season one ended with Ryan driving back to Chino with his pregnant ex and Seth sailing to Portland. Season two opens with everyone miserable and apart, and spends its first two episodes putting the Cohen house back together. The O.C. Season 2 is the year the show stopped being about an outsider and became about the whole of Newport Beach.

What Happens Across The 24 Episodes

Marissa dates Alex, the bartender at the Bait Shop, in a storyline that got more press than anything else on the show. Seth and Summer go through Zach before landing back where they started. Kirsten’s drinking becomes a real plot rather than a running joke. Sandy’s old girlfriend Rebecca turns up. Caleb Nichol’s financial crimes catch up with him and he dies of a heart attack in the pool house. And the finale sets up the biggest cliffhanger the series ever did, with Trey, Ryan’s brother, and a gun, and Marissa pulling the trigger.

Why Season Two Is The One Fans Argue About

The Bait Shop gave the show its best musical guests, with The Killers, Modest Mouse and The Walkmen all playing on screen. Chrismukkah got its own episode. The season has the highest highs of the series and a saggy middle, and it is the last year before the ratings started to slide.
