Fifty years ago a lime soda accident turned half of Seabrook into zombies. They were walled into Zombietown and given Z-Bands, wristbands that stop them craving brains. This year they are being integrated into Seabrook High. Zed wants to play football. Addison wants to be a cheerleader and has a secret of her own under her wig. Zombies is Disney Channel’s Romeo and Juliet with green hair, and it spawned three sequels and a series.
What Happens At Seabrook High
Zombies are kept in the basement and banned from sports. Zed hacks his Z-Band to play better, which works until it does not. Addison’s cousin Bucky runs the cheer squad and will do anything to keep the zombies out of the cheer championship. Zed and Addison’s friendship becomes something more and both sides of the town hate it. The finale is the cheer competition, Addison without the wig, and the song Someday.
Why It Worked
Milo Manheim, Camryn Manheim’s son, had never acted on screen and got the part at a Dancing with the Stars audition. Meg Donnelly had been on American Housewife. The songs, especially BAMM and Fired Up, charted. Zombies 2 added werewolves, Zombies 3 added aliens, and Zombies 4 in 2025 added vampires and daywalkers.
