Bheem is a Gond tribal man who has come to Delhi to rescue a girl taken by the British governor’s wife. Raju is a police officer in the British Raj who will do anything, including beating his own people, to get promoted. They meet saving a boy from a burning train, become brothers, and neither knows what the other is. RRR won the Oscar for Best Original Song, for Naatu Naatu, and it made a Telugu film the biggest thing in American cinemas for a month.
What Happens In Delhi
Bheem drives a motorbike through the governor’s garden with a truck full of tigers, wolves and a leopard, which is the scene the film is known for. Raju is ordered to catch him. He does, and the whipping scene, with Bheem singing instead of kneeling, is where Raju changes. The second half is Raju’s real plan, a flashback to his village, and the two of them fighting together in a forest with a bow, a rifle and a shoulder ride. The British villains, played by Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody, are cartoon evil on purpose.
Why It Became A Phenomenon
Rajamouli made Baahubali and this is bigger. Naatu Naatu was shot in front of the Ukrainian president’s palace in Kyiv. N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan trained for the dance for months. The film has an interval card and a three-hour runtime and the Western audience did not care. Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju were real and the film is honest that it invented their friendship.
