Peter Bretter writes the music for a crime show called Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime, in which his girlfriend Sarah Marshall is the star. She dumps him while he is naked. He cries for weeks, sleeps with strangers, and books a trip to Oahu. At the Turtle Bay resort, checking in, he sees Sarah, with Aldous Snow, the English singer of Infant Sorrow. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the film Jason Segel wrote about his own breakup, and the Dracula puppet musical at the end is real.
What Happens In Hawaii
Rachel, the hotel receptionist played by Mila Kunis, gives Peter the best suite for free and then, slowly, her company. Aldous Snow, played by Russell Brand, turns out to be the nicest person on the island. Sarah gets jealous. Paul Rudd is a surf instructor with no memory. Jonah Hill is a waiter who loves Aldous. Bill Hader is the stepbrother on video chat. The two couples at dinner, the cliff jump, and Sarah and Peter in bed with a failure are the last act. The puppet show, A Taste for Love, closes it.
Why It Is One Of The Best Of The Apatow Years
Segel is naked three times and it is all character. Brand’s Aldous got a whole spin-off, Get Him to the Greek. Kristen Bell plays Sarah as a person rather than a villain. Nicholas Stoller directed his first film here. The Infant Sorrow songs, especially Inside of You, were written and performed for real.
