Bob Munro’s boss needs him at a merger meeting in Colorado the same week he promised his family Hawaii. He does not tell them. He rents a 30-foot RV, says it is a family adventure, and sets off with a wife who is suspicious, a daughter who hates him and a son who lifts weights. RV is the Robin Williams family comedy that came out the year after he stopped drinking, and the sewage scene is the one everyone remembers.
What Happens On The Road
The RV will not fit anywhere, will not brake on a mountain, and has a waste tank Bob has to empty in a scene with a geyser. The Gornickes, a family of full-time RVers led by Jeff Daniels and Kristin Chenoweth, keep appearing and want to be friends. Bob keeps trying to escape them and keeps needing them. The merger meeting, when he gets there, is not what he wanted either. The ending is the Munros choosing the Gornickes over the job.
Why It Keeps Getting Streamed
Williams in the brakes-failing sequence on a mountain road is him at full energy. Cheryl Hines, mid-Curb Your Enthusiasm, is the wife. Josh Hutcherson, a year before Bridge to Terabithia, is the son. JoJo, the singer, is the daughter. Barry Sonnenfeld shot it in British Columbia. It made 87 million dollars against bad reviews, and that audience is still there.
